Abuse didn't stop his smile
A mother, her "sadistic" boyfriend and their lodger were yesterday convicted of causing the death of her 17-month-old boy.
The 27 years old woman stood by while her boyfriend subjected the boy to horific violence, including 8 broken ribs, a ripped ear and a broken back.
"He would make him scream by squeezing his fingernails and pick him up by his throat and then chuck him on his cot. He would shake him, punch him, swing him around by his legs and spin him round on the computer chair until he fell off."
"BabyP's" spine was fractured with a force usually only suffered by car crash victims and, day's just before his death, he was hit so hard in his face that he swalloed a tooth.
He was left on his own for four hours and he ws so abused he learned to suffer in silence.
Even part of a finger missing, 8 broken ribs and a broken back, the youngster still managed to mask his suffering.
Four days before his death, social worker Maria Ward found him smeared in chocolate to cover his bruises. But he still smiled when I spoked to him, she said.
His natural father said he was a "bouncy boy" but seemed different shortly before his death.
"He had a bandage on his left hand, his head was shaven and scarred and he looked very thin and withdrawn." he told the court.
"His mother said he had pulled his fingernail off, snd she didn't seem that concerned." he sais.
He tearfully told how he returned him to his mother the next day.
"As she walked away he screamed, "Daddy, daddy, daddy!" so much so that she brought him back so I could say goodbye. That was the last I saw of him."
When the boy died the mother called an ambulance but demanded paramedcis wait until she collected her cigarettes before leaving.
dom får upp till 14 års fängelse, det borde vara hela livet.
